Northwest says goodbye to Duke Anton Günther

As the coffin was carried from the Lamberti Church on Saturday morning, there was respectful silence. In a moving funeral service previously had about a thousand people said Goodbye to Duke  Anton Günther of Oldenburg.

Among the guests were many representatives of European aristocracy. The service was given by the Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oldenburg Jan Janssen.
The senior partner of the House of Oldenburg had died on 20.09. in Lensahn (East Holstein) at the age of 91 years.
Secondments of hunters, shooters and riding and driving clubs from the Oldenburg region and from SchleswigHolstein were in the church trellis. After the service, the coffin containing the body of Duke Anton Gunther was run on a four-horse carriage from the Lamberti Church to the  Gertrudenkirchhof.
From the Lamberti Church of the funeral procession, led by the widow Duchess  Ameli  of Oldenburg, her son Christian with his family, the daughter Helene, and the siblings of the deceased went through the Oldenburg city center in movement sets.
Even before the Church was formed a large crowd, as the coffin was carried out of the church. On Theatre and Heiligengeistwall many people lined the streets left and right. There was a respectful silence.
The funeral took place then first in the close family and friends. His final resting place got the Duke in the Mausoleum. Then there was also the possibility for the population to take to the cemetery again farewell. Before Bishop Janssen went to the mausoleum with family, intoned the Rasteder Showband, the Oldenburganthem Hail, o Oldenburg“.
